The Kukui Cup invites local organizations to participate in a unique beta test of an interactive game designed to foster teamwork and positive energy behavior changes. Teams of five will engage in a fun and educational experience, learning about Hawaii's energy challenges while competing for prizes. Participants will log into their team's lounge, track energy usage, and collaborate on activities to score points. Your feedback will help improve the game before its official launch to 1,000 UH first-year students. Join us in making a difference today!

The KukuiCup:Lights Off. Game On. Overview for Beta Testers August, 2011
KukuiCup Mission • To learn how to integrate: • Web, social, and mobile media • Advanced pedagogy • Real time, personalized energy data to produce sustained, positive changes in energy behavior. Today: UH students. Tomorrow: all of Hawaii.
Why we need you • We've evaluated the Kukui Cup game successfully with individual users. • We now want to evaluate the game using teams who play together and try to win. • We are turning to local energy-related organizations for help.
What you have to do • Form a team of 5 volunteers from your organization. • Each volunteer agrees to spend a few hours over the course of six days in early August participating in the Quest for the Kukui Cup.
What's in it for you • Fun, hopefully! • New insights into Hawaii's energy challenges and how you can help. • Chances to win prizes. • Helping make the Kukui Cup successful for 1000 UH first year students.
How to win • Each team is assigned to their own "lounge" in the Hale Aloha residence halls. • Upon logging in to the system, you can: • see your lounge's energy • communicate with other team members • do activities that gain you points • You win by: • Obtaining the most points • Being the lounge using the least energy
What we want to find out • Was the game understandable? • Was the game interesting? • Did you learn new things? • Did you act as part of a "team"? • How can we improve the game before October?
What to do next • Form your team! • Email Philip Johnson (johnson@hawaii.edu) with your team members and email addresses. • We will contact you around August 1 to let you know when the game starts. • Thank you for considering this!
