Kindergarten Weekly Update: May 12-16 - Dinosaurs, Sight Words, and Important Dates

During the week of May 12th to May 16th, Mrs. Rabb's Kindergarten class will delve into the theme of Dinosaurs while focusing on essential ELA and Math skills. Students will study sight words, read nightly, and work on understanding addition and subtraction concepts. Important dates include the final DIBELS testing on May 12th, a TCBY outing on May 15th, and mandatory conferences regarding next year's placements. Don't forget to record nightly reading and encourage your child to practice their sight words!

Continue reading books nightly and record on reading log. ELA: Theme: Dinosaurs We will review, blending letter sounds to say a word, breaking words into individual sounds, identify setting, characters, plot, and sequence of a story, making inferences, retelling, main idea, consonant blends, and rhyming words. Book: The Story of Dinosaurs. MATH: This unit focuses on understanding addition as putting together and adding to, and understanding subtraction as taking apart and taking from. Fluency in adding and subtracting within 5 and counting by ones and tens to 100 are also focuses. SOCIAL LIVING: Dinosaurs • May 12th Final Kindergarten DIBELS testing • May 15th TCBY • May 21st End of the year program 9:00am • May 23rd Early Dismissal 12:36 Conferences will begin this week. I will be sending home a note to you about conferences. This conference is mandatory. We will discuss my recommendations for placement next year.
