  1. The Garden of Edenas a type of ourSalvation in Christ Genesis 2:8-17

  2. Genesis 2:8-17 8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

  3. Genesis 2:8-17 11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; 12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. 13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. 14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

  4. Genesis 2:8-17 15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

  5. I. This Garden was planted by the Lord Genesis 2:8 “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” Man had nothing to do with the planning and planting of it. It was wholly of the LORD.

  6. I. This Garden was planted by the Lord Jonah 2:9 “But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.”

  7. I. This Garden was planted by the Lord Man has nothing to do with the designing or providing of it. It is truly the work of God. Ephesians 1:4 “According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.”

  8. II. It was planned and planted for the good of man Genesis 2:9 “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

  9. II. It was planned and planted for the good of man The garden suggests a special enclosure with a variety of good things. In this one garden was everything that man could desire for his good. SALVATION WAS DESIGNED AND PROVIDED FOR THE GOOD OF MAN.

  10. II. It was planned and planted for the good of man In Christ Jesus we find everything that we need for our good. Colossians 2:9, 10 “For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power.”

  11. III. In the midst of the garden was the Tree of Life Genesis 2:9 “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

  12. III. In the midst of the garden was the Tree of Life The FIRST and GREATEST NEED of every man is LIFE ETERNAL. Eternal life can only be found in Christ Jesus.

  13. III. In the midst of the garden was the Tree of Life John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” 1 John 5:12 “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

  14. IV. In this garden was every tree that was pleasant to the sight Genesis 2:9 “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

  15. IV. In this garden was every tree that was pleasant to the sight In Christ Jesus there is PERFECT BEAUTY. HE IS THE ROSE OF SHARON AND THE LILY OF THE VALLEY.

  16. IV. In this garden was every tree that was pleasant to the sight In Him, it is love, joy, and peace forever more.
