Title of presentation Name of Speaker, Title and Organization Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) GSC-15
IMT Standardization Highlights • TIA continues to actively support the ITU IMT Standardization Activities • Develop Inter-working standards which allows IMT-2000 technologies to seamlessly interact with other technologies. • Provide input on IMT-2000 technology based on ITU-R inquiries. Addresses ITU-T inquiries, when necessary. • IMT-Advanced Technology: Although Committee TR-45 did not provide an IMT-Adv Technology, TIA remained actively engaged in this process by creating an IMT-EVALUATION Group to review and provide technical input on other IMT-Advanced Technologies, Peter Nurse, Chair.
Continual updates are provided in support of ITU IMT Standardization Activities. Provide input/updates on ITU-R M.1801, M.1457-9, M.1457-10, and soon to be M.1457-11. Significant updates to M.1457-10 included: Signaling Test Specification for E-UTRAN – cdma2000 Connectivity and Interworking Minimum performance updates for 1x, HRPD and UMB Updates to Revision M.1580/M.1581 (Unwanted emissions specification of IMT-2000 BS and MS). Updates to Revision M.2039 (Characteristics of IMT-2000 Systems for Frequency Sharing/Interface Analyses) Review of Compatibility Study of BWA Characteristics for Compatibility Studies with Fixed-Satellite Service Systems in the 3,400-4,200 MHz band. IMT Standardization Highlights 3
Continual updates: Review of Study Questions ITU-R 250/2 (Mobile Wireless Access (MWA) Systems supporting ubiquitous sensors across large areas. Review of F.2086 (Characteristics and Applications of Broadband Wireless Access in the Fixed Service). In conjunction with TR-45.8, provided Correspondence with ITU-T SWG2 on Civil Alerting Update of ITU-R SG13 Q.1742.8 IMT Standardization Highlights 4

TR45.5 will continue to collaborate with other Standards Organizations and Market Representatives Continued develop of Interworking Specifications in support of other technologies (LTE, WiMAX) Collaborate 3GPP and WiMAX Forum on Interworking Collaborate with 3GPP to develop Signaling Conformance Specifications for Interworking with LTE Partner with 3GPP2 and its Organizational Partners and Marketing Representation Partners Maintain cooperative relationship with Femto Forum and Broadband Forum, in partnership with 3GPP2 as it relates to Femtocells. Work with International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Provide ITU with updates of cdma2000 as IMT-2000 and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), M.1801 and M.1457 In the near term, will provide ITU with input on M2M logistics Collaborate with other Organizations based on industry needs Strategic Direction 9
Continued enhancements and updates via the IMT-2000 process has allowed significant advantages for cdma. A few quick facts are noted (based on information from http://www.cdg.org/). cdma2000 has more than 500 million 1x subscribers and more than 142 million HRPD subscribers Since July 8, 2010, 2,353 devices have been introduced into the market Strategically, the cdma2000 family of standards will continue to: serve operators well into the next decade, provide support for a graceful transition to next-generation wireless broadband technologies. developing solutions to ensure that CDMA2000 devices, networks and roaming provide a seamless usability across cdma2000 and 4G wireless technology platforms. Strategic Direction 10
TR45.5 will continue to: Develop new technologies and services. Develop standards that enhances the use of: Machine-to-machine, Machine Type Communication and, Smartgrids Support an overall Green Initiative to study ways on developing enhancements for the access terminal and the access network. Study more broadly, beyond what is already supported in the cdma standards, the Green Initiative. Strategic Direction 11
Increase capacity while maintaining service quality and system coverage to satisfy market demands Enhance data throughput and reduce latency to accommodate existing and emerging data services Continue to find ways to reduce power consumption for both the terminal and infrastructure. Continue to meet industry requirements for emerging markets Challenges 12
Continue to develop new technologies and services for the cdma2000 industry. Recognize and acknowledge emerging markets and continue to develop key requirements and feature enhancements for such markets. Innovate and improve existing systems in TIA TR-45.5 Work closely with regulatory bodies to provide solutions for: location services, emergency notification, new frequency plans, other governmental services. Next Steps/Actions 13
TIA Subcommittees continues to develop international standards and have developed joint relations with other standards organizations Subcommittee TR-45.5 develops performance, compatibility and interoperability standards for Spread Spectrum Digital wireless access systems supporting international, public, non-public, or residential mobile and personal communications. These standards apply to service definition, mobile and portable station equipment, base station equipment, ancillary apparatus, as covered by applicable Parts of the FCC Rules. Continue to provide input to ITU-Radiocommunications Division. Developed joint standards with ATIS WTSC TR-45.5, in partnership with 3GPP2, has a cooperative relationship with the Femto Forum and Broadband Forum. Subcommittee TR-45.5 15
