  2. Symptom’s • Mental retardation

  3. Symptom’s • Single palm crease. (Simian Crease)

  4. Symptom’s • Flattened nose and face. • Upward eyes.

  5. Symptom’s • First and second toe widely seperated.

  6. Symptom’s Pelvic bone is shaped wider then normal.

  7. Karyotype • Caused by an extra chromosome in the 21st pair

  8. Treatment • No cure or treatment is currently availible.

  9. Testing • Prenatal testing • Test is called a karyotype

  10. Occurrence • 1 in 900. • Most common genetic reason for mental retardation. • The older the mother the greater chance.

  11. Inheritance • Results from faulty gamete cell division.
