  3. Banking Profile of West Tripura District • Total No of Banks – 35 Nationalized:-21 Others:- 14 • Total Number of No Bank Mitras (Business Correspondents) – 74 • Average population covered per branch – 5882

  4. Rolling out PMJDY in West Tripura Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura inaugurates PMJDY scheme in West Tripura District on 28 August 2014 at Rabindra Bhawan, Agartala.

Achievements under PMJDY • Number of accounts under PMJDY in West Tripura District as on 24 February 2016 -2,86,811 (approx 28% of total population) • Rural – 83032 (29%) and Urban -203779(71%) • Accounts held by women – 93385 (33%) • Accounts held by SC- 54689 (19%) • Accounts held by ST- 83081 ( 29%) • Account held by OBC – 77491 (27%) • Accounts held by Minority- 42586 (15%) • Accounts held by other category- 28964 (10%)

Achievements under PMJDY contd.. • Number of RuPay cards issued – 2,45,735 (85.68 % ) • RuPay cards Activated – 1,44,026 (59% of cards issued ) • Number of zero balance accounts – 51948 (18.11%) • Deposits in PMJDY accounts – Rs.114.45 Crores (average Rs.4000 deposit per account) New account opening under PMJDY in Jirania community Hall on 9th September 2014

Awareness on accident insurance cover • Accident Insurance Cover of 100000/- inbuilt in PMJDY scheme & of Rs. 200000/- in Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) Awareness by Lead Bank/other banks is being done- • By way of centrally sent SMS • Organization of Financial Literacy Camps(FLC) by banks • Radio advertisements by the banks. • Through Bank Mitras of various banks.

  8. Efforts for Activation of RuPay Card • Regular monitoring and directions at District Consultative Committee (DCC) Meetings • Centralized SMS to customers to carry out at least one transaction every 90 days to keep RuPay card active. • Regular Financial Literacy Camps(FLC) camps • Through Bank Mitras Women with RuPay card and cash after transaction with Bank Mitra at Mandai Panchayat

  9. Role of Bank Mitras • During 2015-16, Bank Mitras have carried out total 22,18,247 transactions with an amount of Rs.545.64 Crore. • Opening of new accounts under PMJDY, awareness for activation of RuPay cards and Insurance Cover. • Distribution of MGNREGA payment through BC Model in remote areas A Bank Mitra working at Paschim Kamalghat GP, Mohanpur RD Block, West Tripura

Role of Bank Mitras contd… • Organization of Financial literacy camps at Panchayat level • Formation of Joint Liability Groups(JLG) for microfinance -Total 2796 JLG formed in District: TGB-2595, UBI 89, TSCB-112 • KCC loan distribution and recovery. Device used by Bank Mitra for financial transaction

Making Zero Balance Accounts Functional • Zero balance accounts as on date -18.11 % • Aim is to make zero balance account nil within two months i.e. by May 2016 in campaign mode • 100 % Aadhar seeding of PMJDY accounts to get the money in accounts from MGNREGA, Social pension scheme etc. • Creation of awareness through Financial Literacy Camps

Aadhar seeding of PMJDY accounts • Total Aadhar enrollment of West Tripura District- 96 % • Aadhar seeding in prevention of pilferage and weeding of bogus accounts. • 2,07,162 (72.23%) PMJDY accounts have been seeded with Aadhaar till date. • MGNREGA – 164643 accounts have already been seeded with Aadhar in West Tripura out of total 171023 accounts (96.27 %) • Target to seed all remaining PMJDY accounts with Aadhar by May 2016. • Regular monitoring Aadhar seeding of all accounts in DCC & SLBC meetings.

Efforts made in remote /tribal areas An FLC camp at Jirania Community Hall by Lead Bank (UBI) Ultra Small Branch (CSC at Purba Barjala GP • During the Financial Year 2015-16- • Total 325 FLC camps organized till 31st December 2015 in West Tripura District, involving 8031 participants • Use of 24 Common Service Centers (CSCs) with 20 SBI Micro branches in District for all banking services in remote areas

Approach Strategy & methodology adopted in West Tripura District Emphasis on Aadhar Seeding & linking of accounts to route all DBTs through one account Active support of PRI/ULB representatives at all levels Regular awareness generation and motivation of beneficiaries through FLCs Reliance on Bank Mitras in rural and remote areas. Emphasis on creation of Joint Liability Group for microcredit Support to Banks from District Administration

  15. Impact of PMJDY in West Tripura District PMJDY scheme helped in achieving full financial inclusion in remote /tribal/rural and leftout urban areas of West Tripura. More than 1 lakh PMJDY account holders have availed the facility of overdraft and used it for working capital purpose. Progress of three main Social Security Schemes

Innovative Practices adopted by Banks • Writing letter to the beneficiary for RuPay card activation and reduction of Zero Balance- by SBI • Awareness Camps in colleges/technical institutes about PMJDY - by Lead Bank(UBI) • Having one day of the week dedicated to PMJDY scheme in banks- Bharatiya Mahila Bank

  17. Improvements suggested • Linking of all the benefits to one bank account seeded with Aadhar. • Frequency of SMS to customers for activation of zero balance account may be increased • Advertisement for activation of RuPay card may be given in national television for awareness among people.
