  1. 6 traits of effective preschool teachers Preschool is the most crucial stage in a child’s academic development. It is a stage that they receive first formal year instruction and also get introduced to new skills such as sounds of letters, counting numbers, and so on. Therefore, this is the year that form’s their opinion about the school and learning in general. It is also the years that lay a foundation for their success in future studies. Teaching is a satisfying and rewarding profession but sometimes it can be challenging as well. Preschool teachers serve many roles and these roles require some essential qualities to succeed. Whether you are evaluating a potential preschool for your children or considering a career in teaching, it’s important to be aware of the important qualities that make an outstanding teacher in a preschool. Here are six important characteristics to be an awesome preschool teacher: 1. Passion If you have a burning desire to make a real difference in the lives of young children, you have one of the most important qualities of a great preschool teacher. There will be many days when teaching feels extra difficult. Whether the pay seems too low or the parents act ungrateful, getting through the low points of teaching can be overwhelming. However, when you have a true passion for educating young children, your positive drive will sustain you through the hard times. 2. Good and Engaging Personality A great teacher is kind, gentle and has a good personality. They should engage students with their teaching styles and hold their attention in all discussions. Students are attracted towards teachers with a decent and likable personality. 3. Creativity A preschool teacher should be able to utilize creative ideas to make sure that kids are learning even with limited resources. He/she should be able to use available resources to make sure that kids have understood classroom instruction. Creativity also helps a preschool teacher to understand when to change the topic or subject by reading kids’ moods. 4. Flexibility You can everything planned out for each lesson, but great preschool teachers know that unexpected turns can happen at any time. When you remain flexible to deal with change, you can handle almost anything. This could include something as simple as having an alternative plan for rainy days or more drastic like adjusting your entire curriculum to

  2. accommodate for a reduced budget. Even the very nature of teaching young children requires constant fine tuning and dealing with minor issues. By staying flexible, you can tackle every kind of educational challenge with poise. 5. Patience To be a good preschool teacher, one should be very patient. The fact that you are dealing with children who are trying to adjust to the new social order can be difficult to handle. Some of the kids don’t have kids back at home, so the school is a new thing for them. Kids get easily distracted and also are disruptive during lessons. In addition, you need to handle different learning abilities between kids, which can get frustrating when some are lagging behind. Dealing with parents can also be frustrating. So a good teacher should also be able to handle frustrated or upset parents, establish trust, and explain to them how things work and what to expect. So a good teacher should be patient with everyone, including school management. 6. Sense of Humour Kids like having fun, and that is one of the best ways to keep them engaged. Having fun in class also helps kids to create a positive opinion about school and learning in general. So, a good preschool teacher should make children laugh while teaching. That is one of the key things that will make children love going to schools. It is a quality that helps to create a strong relationship between the teacher and kids.
