  2. Training in EGI blueprint Training will be an NGI activity EGI.eu 1 FTE (U-E-8) Training coordination Support services NGI User Support teams 2.5 FTE (U-N-17) Role in training coordination

  3. TNA3.1 – Content Creation, Scheduling, Organisation, Delivery Content Creation • maintain and enhance the training resources and knowledge developed EGI Entity: • NGIs responsible for creating training content (grid training relevant to locality) • EGI.eu – no resources for content ROSCOE • Liaise with NGIs for generic material • VRCs provide specialised information • Use cases • Domain specific material (data repository access) SAFE • VRCs • Content for training courses • Online training courses CUE • Work Package tasked with producing training material • Training events • Online material

  4. TNA3.1 – Content Creation, Scheduling, Organisation, Delivery Scheduling, Organisation & Delivery • Schedule and organise an appropriate and varied programme of courses to support the development of applications on the EGEE infrastructure, in order to expand the user base of the EGEE infrastructure EGI Entity: • NGIs responsible for providing training (generic grid training) • Coordination of these events may be facilitated by EGI.eu • EGI expected to contribute to Winter and Summer schools ROSCOE • Project to organise 1 common event /year • VRC organise 1 focused event/year (BioMed school, CERN computing school) SAFE • Training by VRCs • At least 1 event/year CUE • Provision of Summer schools • Online winter school • Train the trainer events 4

  5. Task 2- TNA3.2.1 (Coordinated Support mechanisms) Coordinated Trainer Support Systems • Development of training support framework by provision of a digital library/material repository, and other online resources eg Training website, Networking tools EGI Entity: • EGI.eu • Provision of website for advertising events (calendar) • Available for all communities (VRC, SSC, Middleware projects, NGIs) • Digital library for material to support training activities • Trainer database (across all middleware types)

  6. TNA3.2.2 (Coordinated Support mechanisms) Training-Infrastructure provision • The purpose of this task is to perform the day-to-day operation of t-Infrastructure. This includes the deployment of updates to the unified middleware distribution releases in synchronization with operations. EGI Entity: • No resources for funding t-Infrastructure • Present sites GILDA sites incorporated into production infrastructure • Expected National training teams run training on National resources. ROSCOE, SAFE • Some VRCs history of running grid schools • Resources already established at some VRCs CUE • Provision of dedicated t-Infrastructure (GILDA) • Researching new agile environments 6

  7. TNA3.3 – Activity Management and partner coordination Activity Management and partner coordination • Manage the training activity and coordinate the effort of activity partners in order to maintain and enhance the successful Training and Induction Activity developed during earlier phases of the EGEE projects EGI Entity: • Coordination role • National training resources • Project training contacts • VRCs ROSCOE, SAFE • Work Package – Training & Dissemination • Liaise with EGI, NGIs, related projects. CUE • Work Package - networking with stakeholders, harmonizing training 7

  8. Transition to EGI Well positioned as training is federal in nature NGIs with training partners Increasing accredited trainers NGIs without EGEE-III training effort Asked to provide training contacts/trainers T-Infrastructure Setting sites up as EGEE sites Ensure quality monitoring Availability beyond end of EGEE-III

  9. Comments • Assumptions • NGIs will appoint a training contact within country • Each NGI will have a pool of accredited trainers available • Contributors to GILDA will continue providing resources • NGIs will have resources available for training • VRCs will have resources within their communities for training • ROSCOE will delay start of Training until M3 • Both ROSCOE & SAFE intend VRCs to be providing all community training at end of the project
