  1. Alumina - The Most Ubiquitous Commodity Metal of Modern Society Metal is a very useful and versatile material that mankind uses for making many items that we use every single day. Steel and aluminum are the most common types of metals found in the average household. Alumina is the type of ceramic that is formed with combination of Aluminum Oxide with different additive materials.

  2. Alumina has high strength chemical resistance, which makes it useful in semiconductor components, and many other applications. It is used in everything from soda cans to airliners.

  3. The compound aluminum is produced from Bauxite, which is a formless clayey rock mainly found in tropical and sub-tropical areas of the globe, such as Australia, Jamaica, Brazil, India, Surinam, and Guinea. After oxygen and silicon, aluminum is the third's most abundant element.

  4. Alumina is one of the most ubiquitous commodity metals of modern society. It forms approximately 8% of the earth's crust. In the early 1800s, the textile industry used alumina as a mordant. Through the processing and separating of the alumina, the modern processes were born. The average person tends to think of aluminum as a metal first.

  5. Its properties are very desirable in that form, and when we encounter it in our daily lives. You've heard of the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. Some call this the Aluminum Age. According to estimates, about 29 million tons of aluminum is required to meet the global demand every year.

  6. Production of aluminum is a two stage process. The metal is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. Aluminum can be very strong. The metal can be rolled, cast or extruded into an infinite array of shapes. Aluminum metal is so widely used in today's' modern world that it is very difficult to imagine a world without it.
