  4. Choosing Health Products • Consumer: someone who buys products or services • Factors that influences your decisions • Cost • Likes and dislikes • Environmental impact: all-natural, organic or recyclable • Media • Advertisment

  5. Product Label • What the product is intended to do • Gives you directions (how much to use & how often to use it)

  6. Comparison shopping: comparing products, benefits of one product over another • Guarantee: promise to refund your money if the product doesn’t work as claimed • Unit price: cost per unit of weight or volume • Fraud: deliberately trying to trick consumers into buying a product or service • Making misleading claims

  7. Saving Money • Coupons: slips of paper that save you money on certain brands • Generic brand: products that imitate name-brand products but are sold in plain packages • Cost less because the product makers spends less money on advertising
