  2. Where did the strike occur? • The strike occurred in Victoria Melbourne Australia, causing riots in the streets. The riots where the response to the police strike. • It was also suggested that many of the rioters where in-fact police themselves.

  3. Contributions • Government abolished police pensions. • People had lack of respect for the Chief commissioner as they believed he didn't deserve his position. • Pay cuts and poor working conditions

  4. What Happened? • Riot and looting occurred in the cities with officers and everyday people being injured.

  5. Effects? • The government responded by getting volunteers to stand in-place and try and regain order. • People who took part where dismissed.

  6. Irony • The people who took part in the strike in Victoria where dismissed and the “loyals” where awarded what the dismissed officers had fought for in the riot.

  7. Who Won? • The Police officers who went on strike lost as they where dismissed but they achieved something for the other police officers in service.
