This initiative aims to utilize existing conferencing systems to foster global solidarity through enhanced dialogue and collaboration. At the regional level, tools like Solicomm can engage numerous affiliates, while free email accounts and webspace can facilitate distance learning and technical education. Key actions include seeking political commitment, identifying affiliate needs, defining usage rules, forming a core team for strategy evaluation, training trainers, launching subject-focused conferences, and promoting the program to build community interest and technical support.

  2. Global level: • Existing tools • Conferencing system could potentially be very useful to establish new avenues of dialogue • Need to assess usefulness of supplementary email address

  3. Regional Level: • Solicomm could definitively be used by a large number of affiliates. • The conference system could be used as a good distance learning tool. • free emails account will be very useful. • The use of free webspace will be very dependent on skills – need for education.

  4. Plan of Action:

  5. Seek political commitment from the leadership • Talk with affiliates to identify their needs and priorities • Define rules of usage / moderation / plan of usage. • Form a core/pilot team, to evaluate the tools and to decide on a strategy. • Train the trainers

  6. Extend the program to other people, using the initial group as instructors / facilitators, in collaboration with the GUFs • Launch conferences on various subjects of importance ( focus on the priorities of the ICFTU, its regional organizations and Global Unions ) • Organize promotional activities to build interest in the program • Develop a community of technical and technological assistance
