  2. Applying to College: The Basics • Application • Test Scores • Transcripts • Counselor Recommendation and/or School Report (if required) • Teacher Recommendation (if required) • Essay (if required) **Make a checklist of requirements for each school you are you applying to!

Applying to College: The Process What are you responsible for? • Submit application (online preferred) • Send SAT/ACT scores directly from testing agency via their website • Turn in a completed Senior Profile stapled to documentation of completed GaCollege411 activity to Guidance Office • Request transcripts • Request recommendations (if required)

  4. Senior Profile & GaCollege411 Senior Activity • Senior Profile: available on guidance website or in guidance office (resume-type form) • GaCollege411 Activity: refer to handout for instructions • Senior Profile & Documentation of GaCollege411 activity must be submitted to Guidance Office prior to requesting a transcript!

Requesting a Transcript • You may request transcripts electronically via your GaCollege411 account by clicking College Planning  Applications and Transcripts Request and Track your Transcript (*optional) • Fill out your transcript request card in the guidance with Ms. Sheridan • Return to guidance office 2-3 days later to pick up official transcript if paper copy was requested

  6. Requesting a Recommendation • Counselor Recommendation / School Report : Indicate on transcript card if required by school. Attach any forms to transcript card upon initial request. *allow 2 weeks for processing from time request card is submitted; will be mailed directly from school • Teacher Recommendation: Provide teacher with a stamped envelope addressed to the college for direct mailing *give at least 2 weeks notice

Deadline Alert • Due to the winter holidays, if your application deadline falls between December 15th and January 5th, any recommendation requests must be received in the Guidance Office by December 1st • If your application deadline is January 15th, your requests must be received by December 15th

College Rep Visits @ Cambridge HS • Great opportunity to learn more about colleges, especially for those of you who are still undecided • Register for visits on the Guidance website – www.cambridgeguidance.com College Visits and Events • Sign up at least 2 days prior to the event to receive a pass

College Fairs & Campus Visits • College Fairs: An opportunity to “shop around”. • Multiple schools, admissions representatives • Next Fair: GA College PROBE Fair (North Point Mall) • Tuesday, September 11 at 6:00 pm • Regional College Visits: Informational meetings on a single college at a central location. • Individual institution, more in-depth information: admission processes, requirements, financial aid/scholarships, and life on campus. • Next visit near Cambridge H.S.: Indiana University (Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center) • Sunday, September 23 at 2:30 pm • Campus Visits: Experience College Life! • Campus tour, classrooms, dorm life, athletics, clubs and campus resources. • JR & SR- Prearranged absences (handled through the ATTENDENCE OFFICE ONLY).

  12. PLATO Credit Recovery • Contact: Coach Flemmer • Registration begins Tuesday, September 4th • Sign the PLATO registration book in the Guidance Office
