  1. How to make a portrait template By Carlin Bright ACT-IED-8. Students will demonstrate use of proper line types a) Demonstrate the ability to perform a drawing set up, e.g., sheet size, border, and title block

  2. Get out your drafting pencils, architect scale, a triangle, and drafting board or T-squareTape your paper on two corners to your desk. MAKE SURE WHEN YOU TAPE IT THAT IT IS LINED UP HORIZONTAL TO YOUR T-SQUARE OR PARALLEL BAR

  3. Drawing Title DR BY: Your Name Scale Date CHK: DR NO #

  4. Create construction lines ¼” away from the edge of your paper on all 4 sides • Construction lines are 0.3 mm graphite, and very light

  5. Create construction lines ¼” away from the edge of your paper on all 4 sides 1) Use your architect scale to make marks ¼” for all distances

  6. Create construction lines ¼” away from the edge of your paper on all 4 sides 2) Use your t-square or parallel bar and triangles to make vertical and horizontal construction lines. 0.3 mm graphite, VERY LIGHT

  7. Create edges of your template Use 0.7mm graphite to create a rectangle over the construction lines. Erase the extra lines in the corners

  8. Create your title block Make a mark 3/8” above bottom border 3/8”

  9. Create your title block Use your parallel bar or t-square to complete the line

  10. Create your title block Make another 3/8” mark above the first 3/8”

  11. Create your title block Use your parallel bar or t-square to complete the line

  12. Create your title block Make marks at the following distances along the horizontal 2” 2” 2” 2”

  13. Create your title block Use your triangle, with your t-square or parallel bar, to complete the lines

  14. Create your title block Everything BLACK goes on your drawing. Everything RED you fill in with the correct data for your drawing before you turn it in Drawing Title DR BY: Your Name Scale Date CHK: DR NO #
