  3. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 Time of change for HL7 UK • Shift away from being dominated by UK National Programme • Previously a good source of material, news, attendees • Left us with a gap to fill...a need to evolve • Less need to be a source of technical support

  4. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 V3 now well established • Take up varies from nation to nation • Local politics and policy • UK has led the way (billions of messages) • Other countries now have large deployments • Especially including CDA, even in the US. • US picture changing with new administration?

  5. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 V3 now well established • Many UK people engage direct with .Org • 18 from UK at last WGM in US • 10+ with official positions in .Org • No need to support them • HL7 UK wants to reach out to those who haven’t had a chance to get fully involved yet • Marketing and awareness raising... • Took us a while to make this switch of mindset

  6. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 Marketing focus • Regroup after quiet few months • Moving web platform took some effort • First push was annual conference, earlier than usual • About 100 attendees, less than our peak, but respectable...and feedback very good • More competition this year

  7. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 Follow up • Quick follow up with first Tech Committee meeting in a few months • Heard about UK Pathology messaging • SOA framework, SAEAF Roadshows next • Trying to get to those who wouldn’t normally attend an HL7 meeting – get numbers

  8. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 Roadshows, March 2009 • Leeds, Birmingham, London • About 130 people in total • Raising awareness and getting people together • So they know it isn’t just them trying to do this stuff • Now 6 meetings in less than 6 months • Around 300 people who know more about HL7 than they did before • Membership doing well

  9. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 Other news... • US National Programme? • HL7 signs up for Standards Charter Organisation • Follows on from JIC work, HL7, ISO, CEN cooperation • Also recent HL7 and IHTSDO (SNOMED) sign agreement

  10. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 Organisational, International • New affiliate in Singapore • WGMs planned in South America 2010 (Rio?) and Australia (2011?) • HL7 Ambassadors programme • HL7 CDA Product and Services Guide • eLearning programme

  11. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 Standards... • Industry's First Electronic Health Record System (EHR-S) Functional Requirements for Child Healthcare (Jan 2009) • “Not just messaging” • New CDA release planned this year • Ambitious! • Ballot pack and Normative Edition 2008 continue to grow...

  12. HL7 UK Review AGM 2009 New areas • NHS CFH continues to sponsor development of new HL7 “Static Model Designer” to replace Visio RMIM "message designer" tool • Tools slowly evolving • SOA work, SAEAF • Services Aware Enterprise Architecture Framework • SOA in Healthcare: Value in a Time of Change," conference , with OMG, June 2-4, 2009 Chicago. • HL7 diversifying as CDA and messaging become more established • RIMBAA...
