The Elementary Guidance Counsellor

The elementary guidance counsellor collaborates with students, teachers, parents, administration, and the community to foster a supportive educational environment. They work directly with students on various issues including friendships, social skills, bullying, family dynamics, and more. Support is offered through one-on-one sessions or small groups tailored to students' needs. Such individual support is short-term and aimed at quickly addressing students' concerns. Careful communication with parents is maintained, especially for recurring or serious issues. For questions or further assistance, please reach out via email.

  5. Individual support Individual support is available to all at the request of teachers, parents, or students.  Individual support within the school setting is short-term.  If your child tells you he/she met with me, please don't be alarmed.  Sometimes students visit me once or twice, and are able to solve their problem.  If students come to my office more than twice or if it is of a serious nature parents are contacted.

  6. Small groups Small Group Guidance provides a supportive environment for students experiencing similar issues. These groups give students the opportunity to share ideas and support one another.  Small groups are conducted based on the needs of our students.  They typically run once a week for 20-30 minutes and are 5-6 weeks in length.  Again, parental permission is required.
