  2. Problem • New T4L computers use SATA HDD’s • SATA drives are not recognised by Current DET Licensed version of Ghost • V7.01 Corporate Edition • Attempts to ghost from a floppy boot disk result in error 24010.

  3. Windows Domains • If the PC has been joined to a Windows domain you must run the following registry patch BEFORE capturing an image. C:\DETapps\Support\Source\~scripts\dompassw.reg • By default, Windows automatically changes the password on the local computer account at regular intervals • When you restore an image it will have an 'old' domain computer account password and so the Windows domain will reject the computer ie. prevent the PC from rejoining the domain again • NB. This is the domain computer account and NOT a user account.

  4. Ghost Multicast • Download Necessary Files • Prepare ASI computers – network drivers • Set up “Model” • Setup Multicast Server • Take image of Model – whole disk • Multicast image to all Targets – whole disk • Perform Post imaging tasks • Create Local Current Image

  6. 2. Prepare ASI computers • Run ASIRecoveryUpdate.exe to produce Update floppy. • Boot with Update floppy on ALL ASI T4L computers. • Installs network drivers to recovery partition

Set up “Model” • Commission computer • Create Local admin User – Build • Log in as build • Install all software and configure • Install Novell Client/Zenworks if required • Install all network printers • Login as Local Admin • Copy Build Profile to Default User • Remove any other local user profiles • If you needed to join a domain – remove computer from domain

  8. 4. Setup Multicast Server • Install Ghost – Standard tools only • Use any windows Workstation – not target to model

  9. 5. Take image of Model • Start Multicast Session • Dump from Client • Whole disk • Set up Model • Boot Model to Rebuild Menu • Restricted Menu – Console • Options – Image/Tape • Image Boot • Join Session • Take image

  10. 6. Multicast image to all Targets • Prepare Multicast Server • Whole drive • Boot each target • Rebuild menu • Restricted • Console • Join Session • Change partition sizes to match original Send image

  11. 7. Perform Post imaging tasks • Run NewSID.exe and assign new computer name • Join Domain if required • Run C:\DETapps\Support\Source\~scripts\dompassw.reg • Run Recoveryfix.bat if required • Install Local printers, custom software • Set default Printer

  12. 8. Create Local Current Image • Reboot PC and enter Rebuild menu • Restricted • Capture Current image
