  2. The Story There were once four childhood friends There names were Toan, Alex, Aavo, and Vince. They were close friend who get the best of laughs from school. They would joke around in some classes. Especially in French class. So one day when they were walking to the subway stop. A newspaper flew into Alex’s face. Aavo laughed. He removed the newspaper and quickly skimmed it. Then he showed his friends about a race. There was a race going on in LOVE Park. The winners would be able to meet the rapper Rick Ross and get his legendary GOLD skis. Their Role Model was going to be in Philly. The scrammed to find a vehicle to ride in the big race. Toan took out his old skateboard. Alex found a scooter to use. Vince found a tricycle (although it was pretty small). Aavo had no idea what mode of transportation he was going to use. Therefore he was going to crab walk. On the day of the race the four boys showed up at LOVE park. A judge was sitting in a fancy chair. We were the only ones to show up. Kind of disappointing. Anyway the judge saw that Vince and Aavo had unfair modes of transportation. So he gave them both a 10 feet head start. Toan and Alex were to start at the beginning. The judge counted back from 3 and they started. Vince and Aavo started off slowly. They moved up to the 30 feet marker. When Toan and Alex were neck to neck at the 20 feet meter. Toan kicked off on his skateboard and zipped right past Aavo and Vince. Alex followed Toan and was on his tail. Toan could see the 50 feet marker. He flew straight through it and won first. Alex got in second and Aavo in third. Vince finished in last and was a little depressed. Toan was cheering and joyful spirits until a limo pulled up. Rick Ross himself came out and shook his hand. Toan then got the legendary skis. Toan was so happy but saw his depressed friends. How could he let a stupid completion ruin their friendship. Toan jumped down from the podium and told his friends that he would share the golden skis. They got happy right away and waited until next year. When they could finally put the skis to the test. Vince grunted happily and they all lived that summer greatly.

  4. Equations • 1stToan: y=6.25x • 2nd Alex: y=5x • 3rdAavo: y=3.33x+10 • 4th Vince: y=1.6x+10 • Toan: Toan went 6.25 • (6.25x) feet every second. He had no headstart, which means his y-intercept was origin. • Alex: Alex went 5 feet every second. This made the slope 5x. He had no headstart, which ment his y-intercept was the origin. • Aavo: Aavo went 3.33 feet every second. This made his slope 3.33x. He had a headstart of 10 feet, because he was a little slower. This made his y-intercept 10. • Vince: Vince went 1.6 feet every second. He was the slowest and had the smallest slope. He had a headstart of 10 feet. His y-intercept was 10.
