  1. How to be totally happy Psalm 1

  2. Hebrew song book – “Praises” David – one of many authors The whole range of emotions and life’s circumstances Psalm 1 – the law Psalm 2 – the prophets

  3. Happy Miserable • Blessedness Wickedness • Righteous Sinner • Life Death Psalm 1 – the choice of two ways

  4. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. • Matthew 7:13,14

  5. “Blessed” Enriched, prosper, happy Level Oh! How very happy! The Happy Road

  6. Walk Stand Sit in the counsel of the wicked A lifestyle according to the principles of the wicked in the way of sinners Confirming their manner of living in the seat of mockers Keep company with scoffers

  7. Three types of people to avoid Wicked Disharmony; unrest; unease. Sinner Falling short of God’s way. Mocker Actively fighting God

  8. The Source of his Happiness Pleasure – opposite of burden Delight Bend toward something of value Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matt. 4:4

  9. Results Health, growth, fruitful Godly prosperity Fruit of the Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control Deeply rooted, firm in his faith

  10. The Miserable Road Like Chaff Lifeless, useless Loose from God “Torn up” Can’t muster a defense “Haven’t got a leg to stand on”

  11. God watches over the way • God knows, cares for, is interested in • The Lord knows those who are his • 2 Tim. 2:19

  12. John Oxenham The Ways • To every man there openeth • A way and ways and a way, • And the high soul takes the high way, • And the low soul gropes the low, • And in between on the misty flats • The rest drift to and fro. • But to every man there openeth • A high way and a low, • And every man decideth • The way his soul shall go.

  13. Oh! How gloriously happy is the one whose way of life isn’t aligned with the principles of miserable people; • or keeps company with those • who forever mess up their lives; • or are friends with those who bolster • up their beliefs by making fun • of the way of God.

  14. The happiest receives great pleasure and delight in God’s Word; all its guiding principles, rules of living and way of life. Day and night he ponders and pours over it planting it deep in his heart.

  15. He stands firm and strong like a deep rooted tree by fresh flowing streams; His life produces fruit and benefits all, he’s never dried up or parched. His life is worthwhile to himself and others. He produces godly prosperity

  16. Not so with the miserable wicked! Their lives are as worthless as yesterday’s rubbish; no one goes in search of that! When it comes to judgment they won’t have a leg to stand on, they won’t be able to muster the slightest defense. The hypocrites and pretenders will have no place among the righteous.

  17. For the Lord cares for and is intently interested in guiding the righteous life; but the life of the wicked is a complete dead end.
