Later, other people in the empire would be able to claim citizenship as well. Section 1: Roman Daily Life Roman Social Classes Rich Romans lived lives of luxury and excess, while poor Romans were packed together in apartment houses with no plumbing or kitchens. Extended families lived together, with the paterfamilias heading the household. Women’s lives varied according to their husband’s wealth and status.
