  1. After Reading Act 1 of Othello • First: Find 3 examples where characters are derogatory in their speech/reference towards Othello and his race. Do not copy the line; however, cite the line by putting the Act.Scene.LineNumbers (1.3.56). Then, explain who says it and why. • Second: Find 3 examples of Iago manipulating a character in Act I. Do not copy the line; however, cite the line by putting the Act.Scene.Line Numbers (1.2.47-48). Then, explain who says it and how it is an example of manipulation. • Third: Find 3 examples of Iago’s plan for revenge against Othello (at this point in the play). Do not copy the line; however, cite the line by putting the Act.Scene.Line Numbers (1.1.13). Then, explain what the step is. • Fourth: In the informational article we read it said, “The convention of Christian art to represent Satan or other devils as being black or dark-skinned also lent another connotation to the reader, viewer, or performer of Shakespeare's play [about the Moor].” The idea of the moor as a devil is evident numerous times in Act I of Othello. Find 3 examples of when Othello is refereed to as a demon or devil by other characters in Act I of the play. Do not copy the line; however, cite the line by putting the Act.Scene.Line Numbers (1.2.47-48). Explain who says it and why they would refer to him as a devil.
