  2. June 14, 1928 • Ernesto “Che” Guevara was born in Rosario, Argentina. He was the oldest of five children. He had 2 sisters, Celia and Ana Maria, and 2 brothers, Juan Martin and Roberto. Ernesto Guevara Lynch, his father, was an engineer from a family of Irish descent. His mother, Clia dela Sena, was of Irish- Spanish descent. His mother lost her parents while she was still a child.   4. 1929-1930 • At the ago of 2, Guevara had his first asthma attack. • Che and his family then moved to Buenos Aires. • When his asthma attacks started to worsen, the doctors advised him and his family to move to a drier climate, which is why they moved again, but to Cordoba this time.   6. 1944 • In 1944, Ernesto’s family moved to Buenos Aires. Because of their financial problems, Che started to work while still in school. He then registered to be a medical student at the University of Buenos Aires. While in medical school, he traveled throughout Argentina studying leprosy and tropical diseases.   8. 1951 • In 1951, he took a year off from studying at the University of Buenos Aires. He set off on a motorcycle trip traveling throughout South America with his friend, Alberto Granado. Their final goal was to spend a short time helping as a volunteer at the San Pablo Leper colony in Peru. Wikipedia.

  10. 1953 • This is the year that Ernesto Guevara graduated from medical school as a doctor. He went to work in a leper colony in Venezuela. On his way to Venezuela, he was put in a jail in Peru because of a book he had previously wrote. When he got out of jail, he stayed in Ecuador. This is where he met Ricardo Rojo, a lawyer.   12. 1955 • While in Guatemala, he met Hilda Gadea, They married in 1955 and had one child, named Hildita. • Also in 1955, he was arrested for a short time in Mexico with Fidel Castro. He joined Castro’s revolutionaries to overthrow the Batista government. http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/guevar.htm

  14. 1967 • Ernesto Guevara died on October 9th, 1967. He was shot in a schoolhouse in La Higuera by Warrant Officer Mario Teran. It was a request by Colonel Zenteno. Teran was under the influence of alcohol celebrating his birthday.   16. 1969 • Guevara’s life inspired a movie called “Che!” that was produced in 1969. The movie was directed by Richard Fleischer and starred Omar Sharif who played Guevara. The film covers Guevara's life from when he first landed in Cuba in 1956 to his death in an ambush by government troops in the mountains of Bolivia in 1967. http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/guevar.htm
