  1. SSL VPN setup for a PC

  2. Security requirements • Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista • Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher • UIS Active Directory account

  3. Setting up Remote Desktop Connection • Right-click on My Computer icon, which you should be able to find either on the desktop or in the start menu

  4. Select properties

  5. Click on the tab called Computer Name

  6. Write down the Full Computer name. (CUSYSPC is just a sample name. The name of your computer will be different)

  7. Next, click on the Remote Tab

  8. Make sure to check the following check-box

  9. Open a browser window and go to the following link: http://vpn.cusys.edu

  10. Enter your UIS login name and password

  11. Wait until Host Checker and Cache Cleaner finish performing their functions

  12. The following screen shot is optional. If you don’t see the following popup Information Bar, you can skip to the next slide. • Click on the check box and then click OK button

  13. Click on the popup bar and then select Install ActiveX Control

  14. Click on the Install button

  15. Wait until the installation complete

  16. Click on the “Monitor with a + sign” button to add a remote desktop connection session

  17. Choose a name your remote session. The name you pick does not affect the functionality of it. • Enter the Name of your computer that you have written down. This comes from slide #3 • Change color depth to at least 24-bit, so that your remote desktop connection displays proper color palette. • Enable both check-boxes, if they are disabled or unchecked

  18. Check the box for Desktop Composition • Click save changes button

  19. Click on the session that you just saved and that should start your remote desktop connection

  20. You should see the following screen which represents the remote computer you’re trying to login to. If you entered your UIS login name and password as shown on slide #19, you will be automatically logged in to your remote computer.
