  2. A damp building can cost a considerable amount of time and money to put right. Damp allows mold and fungi to prosper, which is directly linked to respiratory problems and affect asthma sufferers . Old buildings, are most vulnerable to damp, due to being built with porous material such as; cob, stone and rab, which will hold moisture within the walls of the structure.

  3. The flow of air through an old traditional building would have been much considerable  as a result of draughts from windows and doors. By using lime, which is breathable, will allow a degree of moisture to pass through the wall. Where as Gypsum, which is generally used as a finishing plaster, does not have this ability.

  4. Lime plaster is the single best weapon we have in combating damp in such a situation. Having to Leave doors and windows a jar is an costly option during the winter months when the problem is at its worst.

  5. Otterbein lime plasters not only offer sustainable benefits, but breathability and flexibility for the building, they can also reduce site times by a massive 75% when compared to traditional application techniques.

  6. They both contribute to a healthy internal environment and are economical, practical alternatives to plasters and renders containing gypsum or patent cements that have little or no vapour permeable qualities. They are designed for spray or hand application as a two coat system. Suitable substrates include brickwork, blockwork or concrete.
