  2. While the masses spend their time looking for the road paved with gold, those looking for a more leisurely stroll head to the Wine Road in Northern Sonoma County. It is there where you will find more than 30 different award winning wineries and tasting rooms, all offering a little sample of the wines that have put Healdsburg on the map.

  3. Needless to say, if you want to take a trip along this road, you are going to have to do a little advance planning in order to take it all in. The good news is that there are a number of different ways in which you can prepare for your epic journey along the Wine Road.

  4. Taking a look at the map and seeing all those little red dots that represent wineries can be a little intimidating, but there is certainly help to be had. There are over 80 different Healdsburg wineries to be found along the Wine Road, and you are going to need more than a single day in order to visit as many as possible.

  5. One of the best ways to take it all in is to purchase a season pass, as this will get you all sorts of great discounts on everything from wine tastings to lodgings in the area. This, of course, is not great for out of state visitors, which means a 1- or 3-day pass may be a better option.

  6. Another fantastic option available to you is to book your visit to the wineries in Healdsburg around one of the events that take place on an annual basis. January sees the Annual Winter WINE and festival take place, during which time many of the CA wineries in and around Sonoma County and beyond come to show off their creations.

  7. In March, you can take part in the Annual Barrel Tasting event, which is perfect for those grape lovers who like to get a little sample straight out of the barrel. This is where you get the opportunity to taste great wines in the making.

  8. If you love to match food and wine, you will be sure to get a real kick out of the annual A Wine & Food Affair that is held each November.

  9. You will get to sample delicious wines, great food, and also learn about how to make the perfect match when you host your own wine and dinner parties. This 3-day event is an excellent way to travel along the Wine Road and get a taste of what it has to offer.

  10. The beauty of the wineries in Healdsburg is that there is a little something for everyone. If you like the finest wines available, you can stick to the more than 30 wineries that have won awards in the past.

  11. If you are feeling a little more adventurous and are hoping to find a little diamond in the rough, you certainly have plenty of smaller little wineries available to you, too. One thing is for certain, your first trip along the Wine Road is not likely to be your last.
