Luckily, there is a lot of video to DVD conversion software available. As in all areas, some products are better than others, so shopping around is a good idea.

So, what is the best way to go about converting your video files onto DVD? Following are a few hints to get you started.

  4. Get Good Software You could get a computer guru that you know to do it for you, but if you can get your hands on some good software, you shouldn’t have to. Good software programmes that are specifically designed to enable you to burn video files to playable DVD’s are so easy to use almost anyone could do it.

  5. The main features you want to look for when choosing your software is; the amount of formats it can convert to and from, the type of discs it can write to, that it is from a respectable brand and that it is easy to use.

  6. Buy Some Good Quality DVD Discs If you want your DVD’s to last, don’t buy cheap and nasty discs. Get ones that are from reputable brands. You also have a couple of different options as to the type of discs that you can purchase.

  7. Double Layer discs can hold more data than single layer so if you are wanting to put a large amount of video onto DVD or want higher quality video, dual layer is the way to go.

  8. You can also choose from single write (DVD-R) or re-writable (DVD-RW) discs. The re-writable discs are great if you would like to be able to change the content on the disc at any time, just make sure before you purchase them, that your DVD player is compatible with this type of disc.

  9. Getting the Videos onto Your DVD All computers with CD drive, these days have the capability to burn onto disc. Once you have your software installed and have had a look at it to get used to the way it is laid out and the features, etc. find the files that you wish to burn to disc.

  10. Your software should have an option that will allow you to do this. It will most probably have an option to import files. Import the ones that you want. Then you will need to select the output format.

  11. Good software should allow to choose the video quality to burn onto the DVD. If you have a dual layer disc, select the highest DVD quality possible. This will ensure that your videos look nice.

  12. Next it will ask you to insert the blank disc. Just pop it into the CD drive on your computer and you are ready to go! The software will generally tell you when the disc is done and auto eject the DVD for you.
