  1. Workplace Health Safety QLD Act Amendment

  2. A Council of Australian Governments’ review into work safety laws will consider reducing a range of administrative requirements including registration of certain items of plant and asbestos health monitoring record keeping requirements.

  3. Until the Queensland Government can consider the review’s recommendations, commencement of a new five yearly registration renewal period for items of plant such as lifts, cranes and pressure vessels will be postponed and the current annual renewal period maintained until 1 January 2016.

  4. The commencement date for mandatory asbestos health monitoring requirements will also be extended until 1 January 2016.

  5. In addition, the transitional arrangement permitting holders of high risk work licences for non-slewing mobile cranes to also operate a reach stacker will be extended until 31 December 2015.

  6. As consideration is being given to reach stackers no longer being a separate class of high risk work, the transitional arrangement has been extended to avoid disruption for industry.
