  6. THE STORY As we ran for cover the sky let loose and the storm began. Luckily Matt had noticed a small slit in a mountain range just up a head, that means… SHELTER!!! We raced and sprinted just hoping to get just an inch of safety away from the cruel elements. On the way to the cave Justin noticed a major pain in his arm as he fell to the ground. As we inspected the area we noticed not all of us were injury free.

  7. We eventually made it to the cave and at first it felt like peace on earth but that was just an allusion. Matt and Iwatched as Justin grew more weak and ill. We didn’t notice at first what the problem was until we saw the pincher shaped marks bleeding from the wound. It was the centipede. As Justin became more nauseas, it was up to Matt and I to defeat the insect. . . And so we pondered for awhile and eventually realized the solution. We had to defeat the centipede….

  8. The only way to defeat the scolo was to use its venom against him. The question was, where? Eventually thinking back to the first encounter we realized the best and, well, the safest place to get the venom is from the spots where the monster had dropped it. Time for the next question - what do we use to inject the poison? Thank you for a miracle of some sort we realized Matt had a pocket book of insect description he took from the front desk and his grandfathers old pocket knife. We were all astonished when we discovered the characteristics of the giant centipede.

  9. The first thing we noticed as we read is, the centipede communicates through touch, smell and vibrations, so we needed to mask our smell. This part is probably the worst of all the story. Due to the defense mechanisms the centipede pukes its food up in order to be faster and well there it was right in front of the cave, so to make lemonade from lemons we rolled in centi-puke to mask our smell. The next step was to make a spear using the pocket knife Matt had and we needed a lot of them. While on patrol, guarding the cave front we had taken shelter in I stumbled on

  10. aweird sort of vein lying on the cave floor, as I inspected the vine more closely I knew what it was and it would definitely help kill the centipede. The vine was a rare type of Amazonian monkey vine; known for being very stretchy. So it was time to make a bow. As me and Justin made the bow, Matt made arrows. After we finished the bow it took all three of us to pull it back and shoot. The first shot missed, but the second shot hit the centipede in the leg and it fell off then another one appeared! Venom was all over the ground, sowe decided to use the venom against him. As Justin and Matt held the bow, I ran to dip arrow in the venom.

  11. But the problem was how to get over to it with out him seeing me. As I ran over to the pile of venom Justin and Matt distracted the centipede buy running around in circles. I shot the centipede in the eye and we watched the centipede die from venom, and we went on our way.
