QUESTION 1:the characteristics of a good teacher – first group • love his work and learners • work with enthusiasm, • to have a sense of belonging to profession and learners, • she has to be patient and tolerant, • flexible, • has to have positive attitude and • seek for knowledge not for lack of knowledge. She • has to be able to learn from participants (able to admit when she does not know the answer), • create opportunities for learning for all learners. She also has to • have a curiosity for the subject she teaches, • be able to develop ability for observation and be prepared for changes. • She has to be able to find way out in different situations (chaos), • be critical when needed. • Teaching means being a step in front of a learner and ability to give opportunities to make progress.

QUESTION 1:the characteristics of a goodteacherby learners • She has to be cheerful, • communicative, • open for critics, • she has to be a natural authority not depending on a role of powers, • has to love her work, • has to know how to motivate and • fill learners with enthusiasm for a subject, • has to be convincing, • has to be flexible and take the learner in the account in all situations.

Professional characteristics of a good teacher – first group • Training is very important. • has to have an excellent professional knowledge of subjects she teaches, • but also she has to know how to teach them, • not as all knowing person, but giving questions, • creating interest for a subject, • motivating for critical and independent thinking, • combining theory and practice. • She is able to listen to the learners with empathy, • knows how to individualise learning, • motivate learners to set up goals and • she is able to set up goals and objectives. • She has to be able to develop her own teaching style. • Work must not become a routine for a teachers, • each new day is a challenge. • She has to be able to use resources. • Professional background is important, • good professional basis enrich teaching

Q2: Compare your experiences with literacy teachers and with teachers from former schooling - learners • one of them underwent for a while a foreign school, in which teachers were very helpful and dedicated to their teaching profession. He noticed the relaxed and equal relationship between teachers and learners in literacy programmes, no power relations and no external force (USA). • others have bad experiences with teachers in secondary school (they feared aggressive teachers (Iran), some teachers were disappointment to them because they did not keep promises), they did not raised learners interest for subject, they did not care when you did not know it was your own responsibility. • Literacy teachers cared for the learners and made learning meaningful. Learners were much more helpful as well, there was a lot of solidarity and motivation to attend. • Literacy teachers motivated them through egalitarian dialog, encouragement to communicate, praising, humour, learning though play and activities.

Literacy teacher needs – by 1st group • solid knowledge about the target group • flexibility • teaching adapted to the needs of a target group, • positive attitude, • awareness about the prejudices we might have towards certain vulnerable target groups • emphasis on the learning process but also on achieving of goals that are being set up by learners and teachers • faith that people are able to learn, learning is a complex activity • ability to overreaching personal limitations • ability to motivate, to create encouraging learning environment and curiosity • excellent organisational and counselling skills.

  7. Literacy teachers chracteristis – by learners: • is friendly • is understandable • has ability to raise individual confidence • is cheerful • is serious and responsible • has ability to make learning meaningful • uses different approach to learning from that in school.
