Snoop Dogg has contributed to almost every genre: from country to disco to reggae, in both his solo projects and collaborations with other artists. His collaboration with DJ and artist Kendra Black is the music that soothes ears. Listen to his excellent records to realize how creative and flexible a musician he is. Of course, it’s reflective of his versatility too. Snoop Dogg and Country Music His personal connection with the country legend Willie Nelson actually led him to enter country music. They had a trip to Amsterdam together that formed the basis of this wonderful collaboration. The music “My Medicine” came in 2008 and was on Snoop’s album Ego Trippin’. The duo collaborated again for Nelson’s track “Superman.”
Reggae He changed his name to Snoop Lion to take on Reggae, after his trip to Jamaica. He had a documentary film and a reggae album, and both were titled Reincarnated. Funk Snoop’s entry to funk is interesting. He transformed from Snoop to Snoopzilla for a collaborative project with California funk musician Dam-Funk. However, his full-fledged funk came with 7 Days of Funk. Bollywood Snoop actually got featured in a 2008 Bollywood Romantic-Comedy Sing is King. The film’s title track has him, his voice, and actions as well. He mixed hip-hop and bhangra for the song, which topped the Bollywood charts and the night clubs in India. The most interesting part was him donning traditional Indian garb for the music video. Disco His first foray into disco also happened in 2008 and the song was Sensual Seduction. He tried Disco in 2010 as well with Sweat. R&B Hip-hop and contemporary R&B may go along, and it’s made evident by Snoop’s discography. For this genre, he collaborated with R&B master and a former Gap Band artist, Charlie Wilson. From the first collaboration, they reunited again for interesting music.
