  1. What Are The Crew Areas On A Cruise Ship Like? Text SUMMARY: A crew area is a section in a ship that only belongs to the crew working onboard. It is an area with facilities like the cabins that are meant to serve the crew's needs while at work. Some ships are modernized and offer a crew area that is not as different as the rest of the ship. Others have a difference between the crew area and the rest of the ship. Here are the features of the crew area in a ship. 1. Located on the lower decks of a ship. Ships have the crew area located on the lowest deck of the ship. This is the part of the ship that is below the waterline and the part where cables are stowed. 2. Small in size. Compared to other parts of the ship, the crew area is the smallest part. The cabins that are resting rooms for the crew staff when ship crewing are smaller than guest rooms. The rooms only allow bunk beds as they occupy small spaces and can be double-decked. 3. Have Guest area privileges.

  2. Some crew staff experiences guest privileges in their cabin rooms. This only happens on ships with enough space to modernize the staff area. 4. Different according to staff rank. Just like in an organization, the cabin crew has different job ranks. According to the ranks, staff members experience different privileges and services. Cabin crew who hold higher positions have the advantage of being given rooms that have decorations and gadgets like television, unlike the crew with the lowest positions. According to the ranks, other things that are only facilitated are private bathrooms, shelves, a fridge, and many more that are not usually there in a standard cabin room. Also, the cabin crew with higher ranks do not share a room with the rest of the staff. 5. Shareable. Crew resting rooms are usually shared between the crew members. This is because ships usually have quite many staff members and the rooms are usually few to cater to everyone. Usually, two crew members share a room, but some ships tend to have bigger rooms that accommodate more than two staff members. The state of sharing the rooms leads to a lack of privacy among the staff, and this is usually a challenge faced. To avoid this situation, the rooms are provided with curtains that provide a little privacy. 6. Not accessible to guests. The crew is not accessible to everyone on a ship. Guests are not allowed to crew area since the area is below the waterline. It is a restricted area as it does require familiarity, and engines are stowed under there. 7. Have notice boards. Along the hallway in a crew area, there are notice boards on the walls where announcements are printed for the staff. These notices are meant to guide the staff on how to run everyday activities on the ship. 8. Have other facilities. Crew areas have other facilities provided to make the staff as comfortable as possible. There’s a crew bar where the staff goes to relax when not ship crewing. Other facilities are a restaurant and a gym. A crew area, which holds the above features, is supposed to be as comfortable and safe for the staff as possible. It is the place where the staff members spend a lot of time when working onboard, and it is meant to cater to all their needs.
