Draft New Resolution ITU-R[CRS]/1, WP 1B, 18-11/52r0 • Title: Studies on the implementation and use of cognitiveradio systems (CRS) • Resolves to invite ITU-R: • To study the introduction and use of CRS in radiocommunication services; • To study operational and technical characteristics, requirements, performance and possible benefits associated with the introduction of CRS in relevant radiocommunication services; • To study the technical conditions associated with the implementation of CRS technologies in radiocommunication services in order to facilitate, ensure and enhance coexistence and sharing among radiocommunication services in specific frequency bands; • To develop relevant ITU-R Recommendations and/or Reports based on the aforementioned studies as appropriate… • 802.22 showed intention to consider contributions to this documents John Notor, Notor Research

IEEE 802.11 • The July 19, 2011 IEEE 802.11 Regulatory Ad Hoc Committee meeting in San Francisco. • Purpose • Improve the working relationship between the technical experts and the regulatory specialists, especially when it comes to critical technical issues • Scope • The group will review new regulatory changes or impending changes affecting 802.11 standards • Each meeting will focus on the most critical issue at the time Rich Kennedy, Research In Motion

  7. Spectrum for Innovation Act of 2011 Congresswoman Doris Matsui has introduced in the House, a bill to have the FCC and NTIA study opening two new segments of the 5 GHz bands. Another bill is in the works that would subject this spectrum to auction. This document introduces these actions, and potential impact on IEEE 802.11 projects. Rich Kennedy, Research In Motion

Spectrum for Innovation Act of 2011 • Quotes from the Matsui bill: • “To require the Federal Communications Commission to modify its regulations to allow certain unlicensed use in the 5350-5470 MHz band and the 5850-5925 MHz band.” • “IN GENERAL.—Subject to paragraph (2), not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Federal Communications Commission shall modify part 15 of title 47, Code of Federal Regulations, to allow unlicensed U-NII devices to operate in the 5350-5470 MHz band and the 5850-5925 MHz band.” Rich Kennedy, Research In Motion

IEEE 802.16 • The following docs have been submitted from IEEE 802.16 to the RR-TAG and uploaded to the .18 section • IMT-2000 ROADMAP UPDATE FOR OFDMA TDD WMAN, 18-11/63r0, a proposed submission to ITU-R WP 5D. • IMT-2000 OFDMA TDD WMAN SUBMISSION TOWARD REVISION 11 OF RECOMMENDATION ITU-R M.1457 (MEETING X+1), 18-11/64r0, a proposed submission to ITU-R WP 5D. • RESPONSE TO ITU-R WP 5A ON WASN SYSTEMS, 18-11/65r0, a proposed submission to ITU-R WP 5A • All these documents have been approved by 802.18 to submit to ITU-R with some editorial modifications.
