Overview • Physical capability is available at Moffat in the direction from GB to N.I and Eire. • Currently no physical capability available from N.I. and Eire to GB • Interest in a commercial entry counter flow service at Moffat has been expressed to National Grid NTS. • National Grid NTS would like to invite the Industry’s views on providing a commercial entry counter flow service at Moffat. • National Grid NTS are considering a commercial counter flow service similar to that at the Balgzand-Bacton Line (BBL). • National Grid NTS and Gaslink have agreed to co-operate where necessary.
Current Flows at Moffat • Moffat is a GB exit point • Physical capability in direction from GB to N.I. and Eire Moffat Northern Ireland Eire
Commercial Counter Flow at Moffat • Moffat becomes a commercial entry point • No physical capability in direction from N.I. and Eire to GB • Commercial Counter Flow restricted to the daily exit physical flow Moffat Commercial Counter Flow Northern Ireland Eire
Commercial Counter Flow Service at BBL • BBL interconnector provides physical flow products in the direction from the Netherlands to GB • BBL had an obligation to introduce a product to flow gas from GB to the Netherlands; • BBL proposed to meet this requirement by providing a non-physical counter flow service; • Essentially a product which nets off contractual flows in the reverse direction against the physical forward flows.
Commercial Counter Flow Service at Moffat • A counter reverse flow at Moffat would introduce an entry product at Moffat • Further integrate the markets in Eire and N.I. to NW Europe • Potential for increased trading and greater liquidity • Meet customer needs at Moffat
