Transform an under-used site into a secret garden and reintroduce native plant species in Eastern Ontario. Raise awareness about biodiversity. The project addresses the lack of green spaces for children to learn about nature in Kitchissippi Ward. Community volunteers, including children and seniors, will build and maintain the garden. Funding sought from Walmart/Evergreen Foundation, Westboro Community Association, Friends of Clare Park, and in-kind donations.

The Plan • Transform an under-used site into a secret garden to explore • To re-introduce Eastern Ontario native plant species • Raise awareness about our native plants and why bioversity is important
The Need • Kitchissippi Ward has the second lowest per capita ratio of people to park space in Ottawa • Children have little “naturalized” greenspace to learn about biodiversity
Community Involvement • The wild garden will be built and maintain by community volunteers. • Special emphasis will be placed on involving children, teens and seniors. • Community organizations will help with outreach activities
