Structural Sections - Non Bundled using straps P&O Ferrymasters Driver Training Programme 2019 v1 Tata Steel Ref – LRG-0003 SS Issue 1
Structural Sections – Applicable products As rolled, ‘mill’ finish: • Universal beams and columns • Bearing piles • Parallel flange channels • Asymmetric beams
Pyramid load configuration – ‘ over the top’ X 12 OR Lashing deflection from one tier to the next must be a minimum of 20°. This is to ensure: • sufficient clamping from the lashing to each tier. • the lashing remains ‘attached’ to the product when a force is applied. LRG-0003 Section 4.1
X 12 OR Block load configuration – intermediate dunnage • Intermediate dunnage must be a minimum of 100x100mm square section timbers • The number of tiers on top must not exceed TWO, unless the product on top forms a pyramid. • Again, the strap deflection must be a minimum of 20 degrees. LRG-0003 Section 4.2
Interlocked load configuration - block remedy sections OR X 12 • 2 bundles of interlocked sections may be placed on top of the intermediate dunnage. 2 bundles >> 4 tiers. LRG-0003 Section 4.3
Load configuration – intermediate Dunnage • Intermediate dunnage to be placed 1 metre from the ends of the shortest product. • Maximum spacing of 3 metres.
Load configuration - Short and long loads 9 x straps – up to 15t 7 x straps for 10t • Short lengths may be loaded one behind the other. Each group of product is to be treated separately to determine restraint requirements.
