Objectives • To consider the factors that contribute to the diversity of students we teach • To become familiar with activities and strategies that cater for student diversity • To briefly explore behaviour management issues • To investigate Multiple Intelligences Theory and different learning styles

Classroom Management Establish classroom rules Apply the rules fairly Encourage desired behaviour Have consequences for breaking a rule Be firm and consistent Make eye contact with students Enforce a zero noise signal Consider seating arrangements Ensure lessons are fully planned Make sure your voice is non-threatening Value all contributions Understand the impact of Multiple Intelligences Have fun and relax Allow ‘wait’ time
