Serbian Orthodox Church The Serbian Orthodox Church or the Church of Serbia is one of the autocephalous Orthodox Christian churches, ranking sixth in order of seniority after Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem and bulgaria. It is the second oldest Slavic Orthodox Church in the world. It exercises jurisdiction over Orthodox Christians in Serbia and surrounding Slavic and other lands, as well as exarchates and patriarchal representation churches around the world. The Patriarch of Serbia serves as first among equals in his church

Saborna Crkva • Saborna Crkva was built from 1837 to 1840 by order of prince Milos Obrenovic, according to the design and plans of Adam Fridrih Kverfeld, a builder from Pancevo. • The church was built in the style of classicism with late baroque elements. The church is dedicated to St Michael the Archangel. The interior is richly decorated. The gold-plated carved iconostasis was made by the sculptor Dimitrije Petrović, while the icons on the iconostasis, thrones, choirs and pulpits, as well as those on the walls and arches were painted by Dimitrije Avramović, one of the most distinguished Serbian painters of the XIX century. • Saborna Crkva is a popular tourist attraction in Belgrade however for tourists it is best to visit the church during weekdays as the church usually holds weddings, baptisms etc. during the weekend.

Cathedral of Saint Sava • The Cathedral of Saint Sava in Belgrade, Serbia is the largest Orthodox church currently in use • The church is dedicated to Saint Sava, founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and an important figure in medieval Serbia. It is built on the Vracar plateau, on the location where his remains are thought to have been burned in 1595 by the Ottoman Empire's Sinan Pasha. • From its location, it dominates Belgrade's cityscape, and is perhaps the most monumental building in the city.The building of the church structure is being financed exclusively by donations.

  4. St. Mark's Church • St. Mark's Church is a Serb Orthodox place of worship in Belgrade. The church is located in the Tasmajdan park in Belgrade, near the Parlament of Serbia. There is a small Russian church for Russian Orthodox faithful next to St. Mark's. • St. Mark's Church was built from 1931 to 1940 on the site of an older church (1835). It was designed in the Serbo-Byzantine style by the architects Petar and Branko Krstić. • At the south end of the church there is a sarcophagus with the remains of the Serbian Emperor Stefan Dusan, while at the north end there is a white marble crypt containing the body of Patriarch German Djoric. • St. Mark's Church is home to one of the most valuable collections of Serbian 18th and 19th century icons.
