Creating programs targeted at gaining funding opportunities • NSF program “Broadening Participation” • $14 Million for colleges and partnerships that recruit women, minorities, and people with disabilities • 0.03% women freshmen expressed interest in CS, 2004 • MIS and CIS graduates lacking “soft skills”, business skills • IBM – Using the Virtual capabilities of the new architecture • IBM has program money to support IBM new architecture education opportunities by leveraging Higher Ed
