  1. Chandra Calibration Status Chandra Calibration Status Calibration Updates Since Last CUC Meeting ACIS 1. The Repro III suite of calibration products was released in CALDB 3.2.0 on Nov. 11, 2006. These calibration products provide a better treatment of the cti-corrected time-dependent response of the FI chips and the cti-uncorrected time-dependent response of the BI chips. All 10 chips are now calibrated in 32x32 pixel regions. 2. New products were released in CALDB 3.2.1 on Dec. 15, 2006 to properly handle the analysis of graded mode data which cannot be cti-corrected. By default, graded mode FI data is now analyzed with the last version of cti-uncorrected products and graded mode BI data is analyzed with the most up-to-date calibration products (i.e., until cti-corrected products are available for the BI chips).

  2. Chandra Calibration Status HRC 1. A gain corrections map for the HRC-I was released in CALDB 3.2.0. Standard processing now automatically computes the PHA to PI conversion for HRC-I data. This can also be done off-line with the CIAO tool hrc_process_events. This product allows users to generate spatially invariant hardness ratio images. 2. An updated HRC-S de-gap corrections table was released in CALDB 3.2.1 that includes empirical corrections derived from LETG/HRC-S observations of emission line sources. 3. An HRC-I rmf was released in CALDB 3.2.1. The rmf can help with the interpretation of hardness ratio images and deciding what PI binning to use when generating hardness ratio images.

  3. HRMA Chandra Calibration Status 1. An updated HRMA effective area file was released in CALDB 3.2.1. The new effective area was derived from SAOSAC simulations with a 22A layer of hydrocarbon on the mirrors. This corrects the residuals near the Ir-M edge. LETG 1. An updated HRC-S QE file was released in CALDB 3.2.1 that is consistent with the new HRMA effective area file. HETG 1. Updated HEG and MEG efficiencies were released in CALDB 3.2.1 that are consistent with the new HRMA effective area file.

  4. Present Status Chandra Calibration Status Effective Area Goals met prior to last CUC meeting 1. ACIS effective area: Between rows 100 and 900 on ACIS-S and within 6' of the aim point on ACIS-I the present uncertainties are 5%. Beyond these regions the uncertainties are 10%. 2. HRC effective area – present uncertainties are 7% Goals met since last CUC meeting 1. HETG/ACIS-S 1st order effective area – present uncertainties are 8%

  5. Chandra Calibration Status Effective Area Goals Not Met 1. LETG/HRC-S first order – present uncertainties are 15% - the goal is 10% 2. LETG/HRC-S higher orders – present uncertainties are 20% - the goal is 15% 3. HETG/ACIS-S higher orders – present uncertainties are 20% - the goal is 15%

  6. Chandra Calibration Status Absolute Energies Goals met prior to last CUC meeting 1. LETG/HRC-S - present uncertainties are 0.010A Goals met since last CUC meeting 1. ACIS – rms deviations in the gains are 0.3% 2. HETG/ACIS-S – present uncertainties are Energy Resolution (FWHM) Goals met prior to last CUC meeting 1. HETG/ACIS-S present uncertainties are 3%

  7. Goals met since last meeting Chandra Calibration Status 1. ACIS - present uncertainties are 20eV Goals not met 1. LETG/HRC-S present uncertainties are 20% - goal is 10% Astrometry Goals met prior to last meeting 1. HRC/ACIS absolute positions – uncertainties are 0.6 arcsec 2. ACIS relative astrometry – uncertainties are 0.1 arcsec Goals not met 1. HRC-I relative astrometry – uncertainties are 0.3 arcsec – goal is 0.1 arcsec Timing – relative and absolute timing goals have been met

  8. Chandra Calibration Status Calibration Plans ACIS 1. CTI-corrected calibration products for the BI chips at T= -120C 2. CTI- corrected calibration products for all 10 chips at T=-110C 3. ACIS QE adjustment near the Si-K edge 4. Improve CC mode calibration HRC 1. Update the HRC-S degap correction coefficients table to include emiprical corrections from both line and continuum sources observed by the LETG/HRC-S 2. Update the HRC-I degap correction coefficients table using the AO7 raster scan of Capella 3. Develop time-dependent gain correction tables for the HRC-I and HRC-S

  9. Chandra Calibration Status HRMA 1. Public release of Linux version of SAOsac 2. Release the ECFs derived from elliptical rather than circular apertures 3. Post a memo on the unpiled-up ACIS PSF based on the analysis of stacked faint sources 4. Finish analysis of the ACIS-S piled-up observations and post a report. LETG 1. Update the HRC-S QE file – the new product will include a better treatment of the QE near the O-K edge. 2. Incorporate the spatial non-linearities in the LETG/HRC-S dispersion relation in the LRFs. 3. Search for any time-dependence in the non-linearities of the LETG/HRC-S dispersion relation

  10. Chandra Calibration Status HETG 1. Improve HETG higher order efficiencies 2. Examine effects of pile-up in grating spectra 3. A more extensive analysis of gratings data taken in CC mode
