  1. The Greeting Reverend John: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. All: and also with you.

  2. Introduction Bobby: We rejoice today with the family of Archie Harrison as they thank God for the gift of life and bring their son for baptism. Jemimah: God our Creator, We thank you for the wonder of new life and for the mystery of human love. We give thanks for all whose support and skill surround and sustain the beginning of life. Josephine: As Jesus knew love and discipline within a human family may Archie grow in the strength and wisdom. As Mary knew the joys and pains of motherhood, give Meghan and Harry your sustaining grace and love; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. All: Amen.

  3. O Jesus I have Promised

  4. The Collect Alistair: Heavenly Father, by the power of your Holy Spirit you give your faithful people new life in the water of baptism. Thomas: Guide and strengthen us by the same Spirit, that we who are born again may serve you in faith and love and grow into the full stature of your Son, Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit now and forever.   6. The Baptism Presentation of the Candidate: Revered John Will the Parents and Godparents please stand Parents and Godparents, the church receives Archie with joy. Today we are trusting God for him growth in his faith. Will you pray for him, draw him by your example into the community of faith and walk with him in the way of Christ. Parents and Godparents: With the help of God, we will.

  7. The Baptism In Baptism, Archie begins his journey in faith. You speak for him today. Will you care for him and help him to take his place within the life and worship of Christ’s Church? Parents and Godparents: With the help of God, we will.

  8. The Decision The Easter Candle is lit. In Baptism God calls us out of darkness into his marvellous light. To follow Christ means dying to sin and rising to new life with him. Therefore I ask: Do you reject the devil and all rebellion against God? I reject them. Do you repent sins that separate us from God and neighbour? I repent them. Do you turn to Christ as Saviour? I turn to Christ. Do you submit to Christ as Lord? I submit to Christ. Do you come to Christ, the way, the truth and the life? I come to Christ.

  9. The Prayer over the Water Praise God who made heaven and earth. All: Who keeps his promise forever. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. All: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

  10. The Prayer over the Water Loving Father, we thank you for your servant Moses, who led your people through the waters of the Red Sea to freedom in the Promised Land. We thank you for your Son Jesus, who has passed through the deep waters of death and opened for all the way of salvation. Now send your Spirit, that those who are washed in this water may die with Christ and rise with him, to find true freedom as your children, alive in Christ for ever. All: Amen

  11. The Profession of Faith Brothers and sisters, I ask you to professtogether with the parents and godparents of Archie the faith of the Church. Do you believe and trust in God the Father? I believe in God, the Father almighty,creator of heaven and earth.

The Profession of Faith Do you believe and trust in his Son Jesus Christ?I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord.He was conceived by the Holy Spirit,born of the Virgin Mary,suffered under Pontius Pilate,was crucified, died, and was buried;he descended to the dead.On the third day he rose again;he ascended into heaven;he is seated at the right hand of the Father,and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

  13. The Profession of Faith Do you believe and trust in the Holy Spirit? I believe in the Holy Spirit,the holy catholic Church,the communion of saints,the forgiveness of sins,the resurrection of the body,and the life everlasting. Amen.

  14. The Baptism Archie Harrison  I baptise youin the name of the Father,and of the Son,and of the Holy Spirit.  All: Amen

  15. The Signing with the Cross The Minister makes the sign of the cross on the forehead of the candidate saying: Christ claims you for his own. Receive the sign of the cross. Archie, do not be ashamed to confess the faith of Christ crucified. All: Fight valiantly as a disciple of Christ against sin, the world and the devil, and remain faithful to Christ to the end of your life.

  16. The Signing with the Cross May Go, who has received you by baptism into his Church, pour upon you the riches of his grace that within the company of Christ’s pilgrim people you may daily be renewed by his anointing Spirit and come to the inheritance of the saints in glory. All: Amen.

  17. The Commission As part of the Church of Christ, we all have a duty to support Archie by prayer, example and teaching. As Archie’s parents and godparents, you have the prime responsibility for guiding and helping him in hisearly years. This is a demanding task for which you will need the help and grace of God. Therefore let us now pray for grace in guiding Archie in the way of faith. Faithful and loving God,bless those who care for Archieand grant him your gifts of love, wisdom and faith.Pour upon him your healing and reconciling love,and protect his home from all evil.Fill him with the light of your presenceand establish him in the joy of your kingdom,through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

  18. The Welcome There is on Lord, one faith, one Baptism: Archie by one spirit we are baptised into one body. All: We welcome you into the fellowship of faith; we are children of the same Heavenly Faith; we welcome you. The congregation welcome the newly baptised. Clap for baby Archie and his parents!

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven,hallowed be your name,your kingdom come,your will be done,on earth as in heaven.Give us today our daily bread.Forgive us our sinsas we forgive those who sin against us.Lead us not into temptationbut deliver us from evil.For the kingdom, the power,and the glory are yoursnow and for ever.Amen.

  20. The Blessing The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, establish, strengthen and settle you in the faith; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. All: Amen

  21. The Giving of the Lighted Candle You have received the light of Christ; walk in this light all the days of your life. All: Shine as a light in the world to the glory of God the father.
