Concussion. a mild brain injury. Symptoms include:. Confusion. Anything that makes the brain bounce around and against the side of the skull can cause a concussion. For example: A blow or jolt to the head Severe jarring or shaking Abruptly coming to a stop.

For example: • A blow or jolt to the head • Severe jarring or shaking • Abruptly coming to a stop • Loss of memory about the accident • Low-grade headaches or neck pain • Nausea

  8. Treatment • Wrap in warm clothes or blankets • Reheat from the core using warm (not hot) drinks • Get casualty to a doctor Test

  9. What is heat exhaustion? Fluids and salts lost due to sweating Higher than normal temp

  10. Signs • Dry mouth • Fatigue, weakness • Dizziness • Headache • Nausea, sometimes vomiting

  11. Treatment • Move to a cool place indoors or in the shade. • Loosen clothing. • Take fluids such as cool or cold water. or drink sport drinks such as PowerAde. • Have salty foods. • Lie down in a cool, breezy place.

  14. Signs • Very high temperature (39 degrees c or higher) • No sweating • Deep breathing and fast pulse • Dilated pupils • Confusion, delirium, hallucinations • Loss of consciousness

  15. Treatment • Drinking sips of water slowly • Wrap in cold, wet sheet • Ice packs under neck and armpits • See a doctor
