  1. Lab Equipment Thanks to www.carolina.com for the pictures! 

  2. Divide your paper into THREE columns. Cut out the 33 lab equipment pictures. Place each one down in the “Picture” column and then write the name in the next column. If you know the use, write that as well. DO NOT GLUE anything down too securely yet (Or just use a pencil!) We will go through all of the equipment as a class to ensure that everything is named correctly

  3. Beaker – used for conducting experiments Graduated Cylinder - Used for measuring liquids Funnel – Used for filtering or filling containers with small openings Flask – used for conducting experiments. Good for swirling or stoppering

  4. Dropper - used for adding drops of liquid Pipet – used for adding small amounts of liquid Buret – used for adding an unknown amount of liquid. Good for titrations Thermometer – used for taking temperatures

  5. Utility Clamp – used for clamping items to the ring stand Iron Ring – used to hold items on the ring stand Wire Gauze - used to hold items on the ring. Specifically items being heated. Pipestem Triangle – used to balance items on the ring stand Ring Stand - used for raising items off the table

  6. Tongs – used for holding hot objects Crucible and cover – Used to heat small amounts Bunsen Burner – used to heat things with a flame Test Tube Holder – used to hold test tubes Evaporating Dish – Used to evaporate liquids over the bunsen burner

  7. Watch glass – a slightly rounded piece of glass used to hold items that need to be observed Mortar and Pestle – used to crush substances Well Plate- used for conducting micro scale experiments Test tube – used for conducting experiments on a small scale Test Tube Rack - used to hold test tubes upright

  8. Forceps – used for picking up small objects Scoopula – used for scooping up small amounts Corks – used to seal flasks Spatula – used to pick up even smaller amounts Wire Brush – used to clean, good for test tubes Rubber Stoppers – used to seal flasks, some have holes in them

  9. Gas bottle – used to hold gasses Safety Goggles – used to protect eyes Distilled Water Bottle – contains water that does not have ions, so it is PURE H2O
