Overview • Two-part program • Freshman Scholarship • Sophomore-Senior Internship • Benefits to the student • One-time, $10,000 freshman scholarship • Summer student employment as an intern (formerly under SCEP program; now Pathways) with up to $15,000 in salary and up to $15,000 in tuition assistance annually • Potential for guaranteed federal employment as a scientist or engineer with an innovative global technology leader • Benefits to the organization • Diverse STEM candidate pool sourced from HBCUs and Hispanic Serving Institutions • Community outreach and relationship building with key university partners • Improved pipeline for future S&T workforce – organizationally integrated, higher performing

  3. Process Chart 28 scholarships per freshman class SO-SR Years Tuition Assistance up to $15K/year. Work assignment and salary for summer employment managed by Field Activity leads.

Requirements • Major field of study must be in a STEM discipline • Must be enrolled at a Navy partnering HBCU, HSI or other Minority Institution with an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) • Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student • Must be taking a fulltime academic course load • Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher • Must be able to obtain at least a SECRET security clearance • Must demonstrate a clear financial need • Should be active in the local community

  6. Upon Graduation • The NAVY STEM Scholars Student Employment Program is designed to prepare students for permanent positions within the Federal government. Student employees receive financial assistance for tuition and books, as well as a competitive salary with benefits during their work experience. • Students who successfully complete all academic and work requirements may be considered for conversion to a permanent fulltime Federal position after graduation. • Students who commit to the Student Employment Program and are offered fulltime employment after graduation will be obligated to work one year for every year they received tuition assistance while in school.
