The North Pyramid • The Red Pyramid is also known as the North Pyramid and is located in Dahshur Necropolis, Egypt . • It is given the name RED Pyramid for the red limestone used in its construction. It dates back to the 12th and 13th Dynasties. • The pyramid, like any other, was built for a king. Specifcally it was for Snofru, of the 4th Dynasty.

  3. The King’s Final Throne • King Snofru, son of King Huni, reigned from c.2613 BC - c.2589 BC. He was the first king of the fourth dynasty and after his death and mummification the Red Pyramid became his last throne. His son took over and succeded his father’s power. Stela Depicting King Snofru

  4. First True Pyramid • This Pyramid is thought to be the first true pyramid of Egypt. It is beleived that it was a model for other pyramids, such as the pyramids in Giza. Pyramids of Giza

History and Construction of The Red Pyramid • Beginning in the 3rd Dynasty, King Huni had started his construction of the first pyramid, but his son was the one who completed the pyramid. • Its construction was made similar but not totally different from other pyramids.
