ONTARIO NETWORK OF EXCELLENCE • ONE is a collaborative network of organizations across Ontario, designed to help commercialize ideas • Whether you are an innovator, a tech based business, entrepreneur, or researcher, ONE will connect you with services and programs to help you innovate and gain competitive advantage

  3. Regional Innovation Centres • The network includes 14 Regional Innovation Centres (RICs) who work directly to deliver ONE programs and services • N. Ont. is represented by the NORTHERN TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE: NORCAT in Sudbury/IION in North Bay/ NOIC in Thunder Bay and SSMIC in Sault Ste Marie

  5. ONE is supported by 2 core programs Business Acceleration Program (BAP) Industry-Academic Collaboration Programs( IACP)

  6. Industry Academic Programs • College Applied Research and development: This program supports certain collaborative projects between industry and colleges. It builds on the unique technical capabilities of Ontario colleges and their connections with local business • Collaborative Research: Designed for projects with special technical research challenges, demonstrated market pull, and high potential for commercialization • Connections: Partners students in science, engineering, and other technical programs with technology-based companies. Helps students to gain relevant experience, helping businesses to advance commercial outcomes and gain access to specialized new employees • First Job: A salary sharing program that supports Ontario companies who hire new graduates for R&D positions

Industry-Academic Programs • Institutional Proof-of-Principle(IPoP): enables public research institutions to advance discovery to market ready with early stage funding • Knowledge exchange: Promotes exchange of ideas and knowledge between researchers and the wider economy • Market readiness: Aids in moving technology from the lab to a spin off or licensing opportunity • Outreach Scholarship: Provides Ontario’s best research students with access to expert mentorship/review • Technical Problem Solving: Supports short term projects and collaboration between industry and academia

Business Acceleration Program (BAP) • The Business Acceleration Program (“BAP”) is a suite of programs and services, coordinated by MaRS and delivered through the Ontario Network of Excellence, which are designed to help strengthen and accelerate the growth of Ontario’s entrepreneurial talent and globally competitive innovative companies.
