  4. Alkynes as function group of alkyne 1-Alkynes are fully unsaturated hydrocarbons • 2-General formula CnH2n-2 • 3-Triple bonds • 4-Straight or branched chain.

  5. Nomenclature 1-Commonname • Alkyl +yne Acetylene or ethyne Methyl acetylene • or propyne Dimethyl acetylene 2-IUPAC name Position+prefix+yne

  6. Synthesis of alkyne 1-Dehydrohalogenation of alkyl dihalide by using NaNH2 (sodamide) R= CH3, C2H5, ..........
