  3. A little about me… I have been a teacher for over 20 years, worked with children for 27 years and have experience in business education. I am also a qualified teacher of tap, modern dance and classical ballet. I love dancing, singing, travel, wildlife, culture and films .

  4. Year 5 Subjects • English • Mathematics • Science • History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology, R.E., P.S.H.E. • ICT • Second languages – Arabic (Ms El Deeb) and French (Mrs. Cassimer) • Physical Education (Mr. Garlick, Mrs. Razek)

  9. Home Learning • Reading scheme and reading homework 10 -15 minutes per night • Homework schedule: Sunday (Spellings) Monday (Maths) Tuesday (Literacy) Wednesday (Maths) Thursday (Topic) 20 – 25 minutes MBIS Home Learning Policy will be reviewed in the second half of Term 1

  10. How to help your child with home learning • Establish a routine with your child: a set time and place for home learning to be done • Check what tasks have been set and that your child understands what needs to be done • Encourage independence: facilitate not dominate!

  11. Expectations In Year 5, the children will be encouraged to: • Further develop their ability to work independently • Bring their own stationery • Set an example for younger children

  12. Reward systems • Class rewards include house points, responsible tasks eg. collecting house points, golden book awards, praise. • House system – contributing to team success

  13. Looking ahead • Theme days – Tudor Day in December • Trips – Cyprus after Easter • Events – Halloween, class assembly, Sports Day, International Week, Book Week • Middle School Production – before Easter • CIBSA events
