  1. Signposts On The Way

  2. Signposts on the Way The Apostle Paul’s (and our) Life • Past • “I am chief” (among sinners) • 1 Timothy 1:12-15; Romans 5:7-9

  3. 1 Timothy 1:12-15 “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”

  4. Romans 5:7-9 “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. {8} But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. {9} Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

  5. Signposts on the Way The Apostle Paul’s (and our) Life • Past • “I am chief” (among sinners) • 1 Timothy 1:12-15; Romans 5:7-9 • Present • I am “a new creation” in Christ Jesus • 2 Corinthians 5:16-17; Romans 6:3-4; 12:1-2

  6. 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 “"Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. {17} Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

  7. Romans 6:3-4 “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? {4} Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

  8. Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. {2} And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

  9. Signposts on the Way The Apostle Paul’s (and our) Life • Past • “I am chief” (among sinners) • 1 Timothy 1:12-15; Romans 5:7-9 • Present • I am “a new creation” in Christ Jesus • 2 Corinthians 5:16-17; Romans 6:3-4; 12:1-2 • Future • I “shall be like Him” • 1 John 3:2-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54

  10. 1 John 3:2-3 “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. {3} And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”

  11. 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed; {52} in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. {53} For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. {54} So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’”

  12. Signposts on the Way The Apostle Paul’s (and our) Life • Past • “I am chief” (among sinners) • 1 Timothy 1:12-15; Romans 5:7-9 • Present • I am “a new creation” in Christ Jesus • 2 Corinthians 5:16-17; Romans 6:3-4; 12:1-2 • Future • I “shall be like Him” • 1 John 3:2-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 • In the Meantime • “I press toward the goal” • Philippians 3:13-15; Galatians 6:7-10

  13. Philippians 3:13-15 “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, {14} I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. {15} Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.”

  14. Galatians 6:7-10 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. {8} For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. {9} And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. {10} Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
