  2. Locations • The Dalesbridge Centre is a combination of bunk barn and camping accommodation specifically geared towards groups. It will provide a base from which training expeditions will be completed. • The Dalesbridge Centre is located on the southwest edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. • Hawkshead Youth Hostel is on the edge of Elterwater in the Lake District.

  3. Typical Itinerary

  4. Who provides the training? • Training will be provided by Adventure Training Ltd. They supply ML qualified instructors at a ratio of 12 boys to 1 instructor. They will also provide certain pieces of group equipment, discussed later.

  5. Bronze Training Expedition Dates There are two expeditions in May and one in July, both during the school holidays. Specific dates are available on the website, www.qegsdofe.co.uk, and below:

  6. Reserving a place • Obtain a letter and form from the internet site (demonstrated later). • Return the completed form with a cheque for £120 payable to QEGS, to Mr McWilliam. • Ensure that the above is done before February half term 2007.

  7. Dalesbridge Centre:What else do I need? • Appropriate personal kit, to be discussed later. Some kit is supplied by Adventure Training Ltd such as tents, stoves, maps, compasses and emergency mobile phone. • Expedition food, to be discussed later. • A completed consent form available from the website, but not before Easter. This ensures that the data on the form is current.

  8. What don’t I need? • Your own mobile phone. Emergency phones are issued prior to expedition and are the ONLY phones permitted to be carried. Groups can be failed if they are found with an unauthorised phone. • iPods/CD players/etc. You will be too busy to listen to it, and it only causes problems when it is lost/stolen/broken/etc. • Expect anything inappropriate to be confiscated. • Boys found with alcohol/cigarettes/drugs or behaving unacceptably will be withdrawn from expedition and sent home immediately, to be collected by parents.
