Interventions- Generic • Precise Weather forecast • Regionally differentiated strategy • Bringing marginal lands under plough • Appropriate sectroal distribution of land mass • Risk management • Control Wild animals • Precision farming. • Soil health management. • Increased availability of quality seeds. • Extension Support • Capacity building • Crop specific • Others

  6. 1. Precise Weather forecast & effective dissemination How ? • SMS through farmers portal with advisory. • Print media. • Electronic media. • Local distribution of pamphlets. • Helps in timely decision making. • Helps in timely input management. • Advance land preparation.

  7. 2. Regionally differentiated strategy • Regional task force. • Regional conferences. • Regional reviews.

  8. 3. Bringing Marginal lands under plough. • Identification on land capability classification. • Developing land use plan policy for marginal lands

  9. 4. Appropriate sectoral distribution of land mass Agriculture, Horticulture, Pisciculture, forest, medicinal plants. • Cluster approach. • Crop models. • Logical crops diversification.

  10. 5. Risk management • Diversification • Value addition • Agricultural insurance • New benefitting product • More farmer friendly option • Integration

  11. 6. Control Wild animalsBlue bulls & Wild pigs • Wild animals – increasing rapidly • Crops affected – Mostly all crops. • Annual loss (appox.) – 30-45% How ? • On community basis. • Wire fencing/ Castration • Include in Narega.

  12. 7. Precision farming • Developing farm plan based on edaphology. • Enhancing Mechanization- zero tillage. • Intensive crop specific training. • Special loan & subsidy supports – nominal interest. • Interest waiver schemes.

  13. 8. Soil Health Management • Soil test report – every season, every farmer. • Micronutrient analysis mandatory. • Managing problematic soils. • C:N ratio may be maintained. • Integrated & balanced nutrient application. • Cost cutting on nutrients. • Capacity enhancement of STL’s ( auto samplers).

  14. 8. Soil Health Management How ? • Opening of STL’s at block level. • Discounting PPP model in soil testing – not viable. • Promoting availability of quality culture packets. • Extra rebate on pre kharif & pre rabi testing reports. • Ways & means to make application of on mandatory. • Ensuring availability of required micro nutrients.

  15. 9. Increased availability of quality seeds. Seed share (Kharif crops ) • Private sector be involved in seeds production of Soya/G.nut. • Subsidy on seed varieties of private be considered looking to their share. • MNC’s be involved in R&D continuid….

  16. contind…. 9. Increased availability of quality seeds

  17. 10. Extension Support Zero Extension Support • Information/Advice. • More field visits & advisory works. • Skype ( manage)/ call center. • Whatsapp Groups. • e- extension. • Periodical review of POPs. • Advisories.

  18. 11. Capacity building • Efficacy of trainings be evaluated (MANAGE). • Revamping training system. • Proper training planning. • More emphasis on skill based trainings. • Intensive trainings.

  19. 12. Crop specific Bajra – Development of Dual purpose hybrid varieties Development of drought and heat tolerant varieties. Development of short duration varieties. Availability of short duration variety seed. Jowar- Increase area coverage under hybrids Development of Dual purpose varieties Development of drought and heat tolerant varieties continued….

  20. ….. 12. Crop specific Til – Development of high yielding varieties Proper use of inputs in marginal lands. Development of disease resistant varieties. Soyabean- Development of insect resistant varieties. Pulses- Proper use of inputs in marginal lands. Development of disease resistant varieties. Development of high yielding varieties. Development of short duration varieties

  21. 13. Other Interventions • Conservation & efficient use of Water – • subsidy & area limit be relaxed. • Integrated Pest Management • Emphasis on dry farming techniques • Quality control of agri-inputs • Promoting use of improved agricultural implements

  22. 14. Bridging Productivity Gap • Regional variation in agricultural productivity as per district level study is 1:11 • Jaisalmer, Barmer, Churu- Lowest • Baran, Kota, Jhalawar- Highest • Special programmes be launched for low productivity districts per unit land looking to constraints like extreme climate and soil type.
